How to grow pohon sereh (lemon grass)? I happen to get a fresh lemon grass from asia store. Should we soak it in the water, or simply stick it to the soil?
Answer :
I have just grown lemon grass myself. Here is my tips: put it in a pot with soil in it ( or simply stick it to the soil as you may say :-)).
I water it every a couple of days when the soil and its lower part become dry. Sun? I count on my bulb in the ‘box room”; each day, I turn it on for a couple of minutes (hihi… is it true that it influences the growth?) because it is very cold now and sun is rarely appear itself, so it can be placed outside the house, since it will wither (if not decayed) and my lemon grass will be aweful. That is why I simply put it in the house where the place is warm and unreach by my children. I happen to have a ‘box room’, that’s where I put my lemon grass with other plants such as greater (kencur), pandan, grape, etc. The lemon grass has growth (yesterday, I cut it, tough, to be placed in a bigger pot [iv]
In Bogor, we simply stick it to the ground and it grows. There’s a lot of it in my backyard. [qq]
In my mother’s house, we simply stick it to the ground; we even grow it outside the fence, it does thrive! It’s good to chase away mosquitoes. [st]
